Lauren Mitchell leads our buying guides for OBD2 scanners, code readers, and bidirectional scan tools. She’s a researcher, not a bench tester. Every pick starts with manufacturer spec sheets and published vehicle coverage lists, then gets cross-checked against verified owner reviews, technician forums, and independent video tests. Her guides weigh what actually matters at checkout: function depth, software update costs, and price per feature. The goal is to help readers match a tool to their car and budget without overbuying. When sources disagree, she says so and explains which data she trusts more.
